Thanks to the Fr. Hermeneutician for this wonder clip from Christmas Holiday (1944), based on a novel by Somerset Maugham. If they had asked me, I would have suggested saving the carol for the social after Mass 🙂

That would be a Refice Ordinary, badly sung.
The church is St. Vibiana's Cathedral, the former cathedral church for Los Angeles. The clue was the bishop's throne on the left side of the long shot of the nave.
So, badly sung, eh? Easy to criticize when almost all the catholics in the US will hear bad music badly sung at Mass in the morning.
It is absolutely impossible to judge over a mono recording off a visual audio track from an old movie whether it was truly badly sung.
I read postings from people criticizing tempos of live recordings, fools that fail to understand that a tempo is set to a building and it may well be perfect but sound wrong in an audio recording….
