Special thanks to Chris Jasper who posted these videos from his summer studies at Solesmes with Dom Daniel Saulnier, that we can have a small window into the mind of one of the greats among us in the world of Gregorian chant.

To me, he sounds like a "scholarly" version of Sister Thomas More, with whom I studied in the sixties at Cambridge. More, please!
I went on the Summer School in 2009 and this brings back happy memories. Many Thanks.
Chris Jasper is a brilliant young chant scholar, and its wonderful to see his videos of his summer studies with Dom Saulnier posted here. Those who know Chris expect great things from him. Interesting that the first comment mentions Sister Thomas More (Dr Mary Berry), Chris Jasper is in a sense a musical "grandchild" of hers. Thank you Adam for posting!
I thoroughly enjoyed the course with Dom Saulnier. His style was engaging, adaptable, and very focused on singing the texts. He displayed a very good foundation in vocal technique, as well.
Sometimes he met "chant drama" questions head on, often he found accommodating nuance when responding to the old vs. new Solesmes fault lines. I found this approach both generous in spirit and more convincing academically.
The camaraderie Amit us students was also great fun!

Should read 'amidst' us students.
Thanks, Christopher, for sharing your videos, and thanks, Adam for posting.
