  1. Might I suggest as rivals, John Scott, Paul Jacobs, Gerre Hancock, Dame Gillian Weir, to name just a few…

  2. …Olivier Latry, Stephen Tharp, Jacques van Oortmerssen, Pieter van Dijk, Eric Lebrun, Daniel Roth, Janet Baker, Frédéric Blanc, Naji Hakim….

This guy is good, but surely not one of the 'greats'?!

  3. And here's my list of names to compete with yours!

Whatever, they're all great. When did music become such a pissing contest?

  4. Aha, Jeff! Touché.

I, for one, just don't care. They're all amazingly talented, at a level where any discernment of "better" comes down to personal tastes in interpretation.

The video was excellent. I've never heard of this guy before (but then only heard of half the others listed). I enjoyed it immensely, so thank you for sharing.

  5. In fairness, this guy is a seriously good player, but it's almost impossible to measure someone's 'greatness' when they're playing Howells. Let's hear him playing Alain, Liszt or Bach…!

  6. I've heard 26 year-old Felix Hell many times. He is the youngest organ major to graduate from Curtis and is now working on his D.M.A. at Peabody. I am not trained in music, but he is said by those who are to play flawlessly. See http://www.FelixHell.com.
