This morning the winter chant intensive participants woke up to rain showers in New Orleans. This made for a rather wet walk to morning Mass for some, and a misty walk to class for others.
In the advanced session the day was mostly spent rehearsing music for the concluding liturgy on Friday afternoon. This involved the singing of the entire proper for the Feast of the Epiphany, Mass IX, the Te Deum and eucharistic hymns for benediction.
Here are a few pictures from today’s sessions:
From your daily postings, the winter chant intensive seems to be absolutely tremendous. It's good to hear that you are celebrating Epiphany today (twelve days after Christmas) rather than last Sunday as we in the western states were "guided" to celebrate it.
Is Todd there so he can teach his congregation the parts of the Ordinary in Latin, proper to them, as required by Sacrosanctum Concilium?
Anon,
I think that's enough. I'm asking you as another "Anonymous" who has gotten feathers ruffled by Todd's opinions: please let it go. Negativity like this only makes us look bitter and doesn't convince anyone to jump ship. I almost think it can do the opposite. My bitterness toward "contemporary" worship is certainly grounded in some awful attitudes displayed by local proponents. Lets all make a new year's resolution to not be like that ourselves.
