Richard Scott makes the argument that there are intriguing parallels between chant and rap (a term he uses inclusive of contemporary dance/pop styles). Reading through this, I’m intrigued – and of course he is right that the Gaudeamus chant and the riff in Lady Gaga’s song “Bad Romance” have the same melodic pattern.
