The Gravesite of Mary Berry

Mary Berry (1917-2008) worked tirelessly and joyfully, regardless of the many obstacles put her in way, to evangelize for liturgical music her entire life – and especially Latin and English chant. Her students are all over the English speaking world today and they are making the difference.

Here is an photograph taken yesterday of her gravesite at St. Birinus at Dorchester, Oxfordshire.

  1. Thank you for the picture! The Choir & Choristers of St Stephen's Church (Sacramento, CA.) are planning a Solemn Requiem in the Classical Rite for Dr. Berry (Mother Thomas More) to mark the 3rd anniversary of her death later this month. Unfortunately, it is difficult to read the epitaph in the picture which reads- "PRAY FOR THE SOUL OF MARY BERRY, TEACHER OF SACRED CHANT, HONOURED BY POPE & QUEEN, THAT SHE MAY REST IN PEACE" (J. Morse)
